My favorite sports talk-show host right now is Colin Cowherd and one of his ideas is that no person over the age of 13 should ever wear another person’s jersey.  I largely agree with this, but it got me thinking if there would be any players that, at age 30, I would have no problem wearing their jersey out in public.  I could only think of two: Willie Mcgee and Brett Favre.  I have always thought of Mcgee as my favorite athlete of all-time, but if you would have asked me who my favorite football player was I would have said Jerry Rice, now I will say Favre.  Up until 1993 my favorite NFL team was the Buffalo Bills, before that though was four tough years of being a middle and high school age fan.  The good news was that the Bills had gone to four straight Super Bowls, the bad news was that they lost all four; the first one ended this way Wide Right, and the other three were hardly competitive.  Without lamenting too much I will just say that the kids at school were less than kind, and I began to wonder why a kid growing up in St. Louis should have to put up with so much crap.  With no hometown connections to the Bills, I decided to look for a team with a great history and ended up with the Green Bay Packers who had a quarterback that I really liked….Don Majkowski.  Yes, I obviously had no idea then, but I was frustrated when my new team lost their starting quarterback to injury and he was replaced by some guy named Brett Favre.  After retiring a few days ago I don’t know where to start on memories of Favre’s career, but I will share a stat I heard on the radio the other day that I couldn’t believe: during the 16 years that Brett Favre was a starting quarterback, the Packers had the highest winning percentage of any team in the NFL.  I don’t know where you would place him in the list of greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, but in a league where you are paid to win football games that may be his most impressive stat.
